Why do you not like mulch. I could understand if it had chemicals in it but not natural mulch.
Have you ever explored the back to eden theroy to gardening?

redirises @ 6:32 pm #

John do you live in Las Vegas or SF bay area… or both?

Do you eat anything besides leafy greens? How about wheat germ, fruit, yoghurt, granola, etc??? Thanks.

Yahti Soto @ 1:37 am #

Thank you for this information

I work in a small farm to table restaurant in Chicago, and seeing your enthusiasm with all of your plants really makes me enjoy cooking with them more. You are an inspiration john, keep up the good work!

Love your videos! How can I get a piece of your collard tree clippings? Would it grow in New England..?

G noble @ 7:05 pm #

You seem to have so many greens, do you give the excess to neighbors? Looks like waaay too much to eat for one guy, lol

This was a long video…that I couldn’t leave. Thanks for showing the “failures”…many of us get discouraged when something fails but it’s a part of gardening and life. I’m really embarrassed and challenged that I didn’t get my lettuce started as early as you did in LV…my wife paid almost $6 for 3 Hearts Of Romaine last week which was sickening! A little hand full of Kale was almost $3! You’re encouraging me to Grow My Greens!

How can one learn all this if they don’t have the space and money to in growing food? Before I invest in equipment, I’d like to learn different processes.

I have 14 Earthboxes and have a heck of a time keeping them watered, and they have a mulch cover. How on earth do you keep all those Growums watered?

@7:30 “kick ass”. John were you referring to the movie? LOL! You are entertaining. Love your videos!

Esther Ishmael-Oku @ 2:56 pm #

John, can I buy a tree collard or seeds from you? I can’t find them in my area. I live near Upland, California. My email is esther_oku@yahoo.com. Thank you.

John, I’ve been watching your videos since last year. My wife now sits next to me in our living-room and listens to your videos with me. Tonight out of the blue she asked “He doesn’t grow Cactus?” I’ve watched many of your older videos, sometimes for educational purposes and others for entertainment. I have to admit, I did not have an answer for her. So could you kindly answer her question for us?

Why would he be referring to the movie? What could that movie possibly have to do with the kick ass taste of vegetables in your own garden?

Not sure if he will get back to you on this, but I have lots of seeds I can spare to you. Let me know what seeds you prefer most (or I can just give you an assortment of diff. things). I’ll be in your area tomorrow & can drop them off to you (if you let me know in time), or I can send them in the mail to you next week. I have way more than I can use!

Great episode. I love to see what’s grown’ on. Very inspiring! We have a bathtub in our second bathroom that hasn’t been used since our grown son was a child… Hmmmm. That’s a good problem. Thank you!

PLEASE know what your eating everyone BEFORE you eat it. Not everything you grow can be eaten. Example, tomato leaves are NOT for consumption as tomatoes are apart of the nightshade family.
